Automated Smart Adviser

This program offers two advisory engines:

(1) Advises on Regulatory Requirements

(2) Advises on Conversion Rate Impact

You can apply either one engine or both. Once selected, the button color of the active engine changes to blue.

The engine buttons function as a toggle switch: click a button to turn it on, and click it again to turn it off.

When the automated Smart Adviser is applied, the engine will automatically request SCA exemptions if relevant.

Customized Rules

Click the [+New Rule] button to create a rule.

Switching from the customized rules program to another will immediately disable all active rules but won’t delete them.

You can select [Custom Rules] again to re-activate them at any time.

You can view the changes made to your program selection by clicking [3D Secure Setting History].

(1) Name your rule: It’s highly recommended to give each rule a unique name that will be recognizable on the main rules screen.

(2) Define the rule’s conditions: When creating a rule, select a parameter, an operator, and a value. When combining more than one parameter, use the AND / OR options.
When configuring your conditions, we recommend referring to the Source Payment API document for detailed information about the parameters.

(3) To automatically request an SCA exemption if applicable, check [Request SCA exemption if possible]. Upon checking the box, the engine will automatically request the most relevant SCA exemption. If the box is unchecked, the rule will apply 3DS only, without requesting an SCA exemption.

(4) We advise testing a rule’s impact before activating it. Click [Test Rule Impact] to learn how many transactions would have been affected by the rule in the past 24h/week/month.

Editing Rules

Click on a rule to view its details.

(1) Click [Edit Rule] to modify it.

(2) Click [3D Secure Audit Trail] to review a rule’s changes history.

(3) Click [Calculate] to view all the transactions the rule would have affected in the past 30 days.

(4) Use the Inactive switch to enable/disable the rule.

(!) Please note that a rule can be disabled but not deleted.

Examples of Rule Conditions

Prioritizing Rules

To prioritize a rule, drag & drop the rule to the desired location.

Each transaction is checked against the rules in ascending order.
If a transaction matches a rule’s criteria, 3DS is applied and it will not be checked against the remaining rules.

If a transaction does not meet any rule, no 3DS action is applied and all inactive rules are ignored.

If that rule also included an SCA Exemption request, then an SCA exemption will be requested if relevant, as part of applying the 3DS.
